چکیده

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) have been successfully applied as biological control agents against above ground and soil stages of insect pests. However, for commercial application, it is crucial to mass culture these using in vitro liquid technology, not attainable when susceptible insects hosts. Lobesia vanillana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) regarded a sporadic pest wine grapes South Africa. The vivo- -cultured African EPNs, Steinernema yirgalemense jeffreyense (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae), were evaluated larvae pupae L . laboratory bioassays. For larvae, high mortality was observed all treatments: In S (98%) performed better than (73%), while within vivo cultures, there no difference between nematode species (both 83%). No significant detected cultures the same species. LD 50 , 7.33 per larva. Mortality by infection established dissecting cadavers confirming presence nematodes, which > 90% treatments. Within both able produce new cohort infective juveniles from larvae. Pupae, however, found be considerably less EPN infection. This first study on use EPNs relative success assays, without any loss pathogenicity, encouraging further research development this technology.

Factors affecting entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernematidae) for control of overwintering codling moth (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) in fruit bins.

Fruit bins infested with diapausing codling moth larvae, Cydia pomonella (L.), are a potential source of reinfestation of orchards and may jeopardize the success of mating disruption programs and other control strategies. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) were tested as a potential means of control that could be applied at the time bins are submerged in dump tanks. Diapausing cocooned codling m...

Susceptibility of the filbertworm (Cydia latiferreana, Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) and filbert weevil (Curculio occidentalis, Coleoptera: Curculionidae) to entomopathogenic nematodes.

The objective of this study was to determine the susceptibility of the two primary direct insect pests of hazelnuts in Oregon to three species of entomopathogenic nematodes. The entomopathogenic nematodes (Heterorhabditis marelatus Pt. Reyes, Steinernema carpocapsae All and Steinernema kraussei L137) were used in laboratory soil bioassays to determine their virulence against filbertworm, Cydia ...

Control of Grapholita molesta (Busck, 1916) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) with entomopathogenic nematodes (Rhabditida: Heterorhabditidae, Steinernematidae) in peach orchards.

Oriental fruit moth Grapholita molesta (Busck, 1916) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) is considered a major pest in temperate fruit trees, such as peach and apple. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are regarded as viable for pest management control due to their efficiency against tortricid in these trees. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of native EPNs from Rio Grande do ...

The biocontrol potential of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) against soil-dwelling life stages of the onion thrips, Thrips tabaci Lindeman (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) was evaluated under laboratory and semi-field conditions. The pathogenicity of native isolate of Steinernema feltiae (T1) and three commercial strains, S. feltiae, S. carpocapsae (Rhabditida: Steinernematidae) and Heterorhabditis b...
